Our Mission is to partner with communities, empowering them by building leaders and promoting healing through the love of Christ.
Beyond Borders develops healthy and sustainable communities by empowering them to meet the needs of those around them. We work to ensure that those individuals who are serving their communities are enabled to succeed.

what you need to know
We see a future in Alaska where our communities will emerge healthy, whole and
life-giving. We believe that communities that were once identified as areas of need
can become sources of healing and reconciliation. We believe that the leaders in
those communities can make the difference.

history
Beyond Borders is an Alaskan non-profit that has worked internationally,
partnering with communities to empower them to meet their own needs.
Since 1989, we have served communities by addressing hunger, poverty,
HIV/AIDS, orphans and disaster in countries around the world.
Beyond Borders was originally formed to meet needs in the post-communist
Russian Far East. We have gone on to serve communities in Indonesia,
Swaziland, Sudan, Kenya, Guatemala, and Mexico. Beyond Borders is currently
focused in rural Alaska, developing and equipping community helpers (leaders)
through our Transforming Leaders program.
In partnership with churches and other organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse,
delivered food, fuel, medical supplies and equipment for subsistence living to
orphanages, hospitals and needy families after post-communist economic collapse.
2003: Delivered food and shoes to orphanages in Mexico and the Kingdom of
Swaziland, Africa
2003: San Pedro la Laguna, Guatemala
Nutrition/lunch program to combat malnourishment at a local school.
2004: Southern Sudan, Africa
Humanitarian project consultation and management evaluation in war- and famine-
torn Sudan.
2004: Kingdom of Swaziland, Africa
Construction and development assistance, in partnership with Leadership for Africa,
to complete a child care center for children orphaned by AIDS.
2005: Bandeh Aceh, Indonesia
Partnered with Faith Christian Community, a local Anchorage church, to assess
tsunami damage and help them determine how best to respond to the disaster.
2005: Villages of Pidie and Sigli, Sumatra, Indonesia
In partnership with Kaladi Brothers Coffee Company and their customers,
established a tsunami relief fund to assist two villages impacted by the giant
tsunami which devastated Southeast Asia. Via Sarahsi Indonesia, an experienced
Indonesian humanitarian organization, money from the relief fund was sent to repair
five large fishing boats and return them – and the villagers who rely on them – to the
sea, restoring up to 200 jobs benefiting as many as 2,000 people.
